Answer
Given the fact that I spend 1000s of hours on this app and probably got about $0.00001 per hour so far I believe spreading the word isn't much to ask.
I will consider removing it and simply increase the price or just stop developing it all together.
I will think about what to do here for the next major release that will contain the new API.
Maybe you can ad a hook or menu or so to choose if you want this or not.
I like it, cause then I now, what app I have used for searching :)
There are a couple of options:
Make the default to do the promotion but it can be turned off.
Another is to Make this a feature one can pay to turn off.
Here what will happen with the new release that has the new API...
a) I likely will bump the version to 2.0.0
b) There will be no more free version of GCDroid
c) Initial trial period for new users will be between 7-14 days
d) Current Pro Key users will be honored without any extra pay/cost
e) I will make this a switch so it can be turned off
Since I will move away from the Pro Key to In-App-Purchases I COULD require a small payment to remove the signature like for example an extra $0.99. BUT my philosophy was always: pay once and done this is very unlikely.
Also, in case I bump the price of GCDroid to more than todays ProKey I COULD require users to pay the difference via in-app purchase. But that also is unlikely.
All that being said with 99.9999% this will happen:
- I will make it a switch
- no more free version of GCDroid
- change will come for GCDroid 2.0.0 (new API)
Since V2.0.0 and beyond will require a paid license as already announced I decided to make this an option. The default is that the signature will be added but the user can turn it off.
