User flags

novw nl 5 years ago updated by Peter P 3 years ago 12

With user flags I can quickly see what caches I want to put extra effort in. GSAK has user flags, so they should be available  in the .db3 file when using offline database.

Comming from GSAK and GDAK I had used there a user flag for marking very interesting geocaches in the database.
This way it's easy to change my route dynamically if a colored Cache appears on the map. I would appreciate it if GCDroid would support this feature as well.

OK, I like this idea.

What would YOU want me to do with a cache that has user flag set?

Only thing that comes to mind is draw a colored circle around it?

"draw a colored circle around it"

That sounds good.

Something like this example

good idea, Fixed colour for PM Caches and other colour for Individual use? For example:

i modify caches names in the save dialog to let me do a text search fikter for the string to find important caches without a nrw feature.  This is not intended  as a down  ote merely a workaround.

I have installed V2.31 and I'm pleased about the color tags.

So I am importing GSAK DBs with GSAK User-Flag marked Caches into GCDROID. Now the question is, how do I adjust the Userflags with the GCDROID tags?

Not directly. My "trick" would be to create (in gsak) a single databes with ONLY the flagged caches. Export them and import in gcdroid. Mark _all_ caches with your preferred color. Next in gsak make a "reverse filter" (ie: pick all  caches from your original database that have NOT been exported yet) and import in gcdroid. In gcdroid MERGE the 2 databases onto one. Tadaa... 😁

That's a good deal.

Meanwile I found also my way.

In most cases I mark in GSAK caches which are important for me or have more favorite points than the threshold I set.

After that I transfer the DB to my smartphone, the device of my wife and the tablet which is mounted on my dashboard in the car.

Now I will do this in GCDROID directly and afterwards I share the DB to the other two device.
