Showing the age of geocache data

magma1447 5 years ago updated by GCDroid Support 5 years ago 6

What about showing how old the geocache data is in the header in the Overview tab, with some color highlighting of the data is more than 24h old?

I like the caching of data in general, but it can be quite deceiving when it's several weeks/months old.

Too much effort, too little benefit

Maybe it would look decent to add it over/by the refresh icon?

Problem is that I usually don't know the age and if we are talking about more than 1 cache (map, list) then there is no single date.

So not sure how to determine that.

I guess it works for apps that refresh all data at a give time. But within GCDroid each cache could have a different age.

My suggestion was to show it on the view that has cache information though. The one with logs tab, friends tab and so on. I assume you only have one date stored here, from when you fetched geocache information. The logs itself are attached from that of course.

No date stored.

data can come from so many sources.

gsak db can be opened directly, no date.

would be custom.

really important?

Probably not if it's complex. :)

But it is annoying to have several months old data. This wasn't an issue when I geocached more, then they used to disappear by themselves (due to more usage, over a larger area, due to more traveling). I guess I just have to be more cautious in the future.
