Android Auto

Thomas Vidnovic 2 years ago updated by Starkiller_ 2 years ago 2

Had my first experience with Android Auto as my new RAM supports projecting my mobile screen to the in-vehicle console. Only particular apps support the Android Auto interface, I'm not sure how complex that API is to implement but would be a huge differentiator if GCDroid supported Android Auto.

Problem is that an app like GCDroid would not get approved by Google.

The only way around is some very odd way like pretending caches are parking locations. But if Google catches that the app will be banned.

I wish they allowed it. Maybe one day they will.

Until then I will have to set it to NO.

Hi! I was thinking about this situation recently, as I am now invested (have the phone and the AA feature!)

While GCDroid can't get approved for AA directly, Is there some way to export a subset of caches, list, or itinerary of caches to Google Maps for easier identification? I know this can be done manually in preparation before, but that isn't convenient in the long run or easy to tell others how to do it.

In the meantime it looks like I'll be mounting my phone somewhere as well!
